On That Note is an award-winning a cappella ensemble from north London.

On That Note is an award-winning a cappella ensemble from north London. We sing highbrow, lowbrow and eyebrow-raisingly good music to delight audiences young and old. Marshalled into shape by our musical director, Jacob Ewens, we perform all our music from memory and un-conducted, focusing on precision of ensemble and tuning. Our repertoire spans seven centuries – with a focus on jazz - and our setlist is peppered with original arrangements from several ensemble members.

On That Note performance at The Water Rats

Since being formed in 2015 by our previous leader, Ezra Burke, we have performed at the Brandenburg Choral Festival Vocal Jazz Series, The Ivy, for the Redbridge Music Society, Ledbury’s Market Theatre, as well as our regular gigs at The Water Rats pub and festivals across the UK. We have also competed in the Stratford and East London Music Festival, winning 4 awards over the last 2 years.

Our members have studied music at places such as the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, University of Cambridge, Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. As such, we all have an unwavering commitment to ever-higher standards of musicianship, demonstrated through frequent intensive rehearsal days and our annual summer retreat.
